Hope Among The Living

The human journey through life is one of ups and downs. But the goal is to make it to the end on the ups.

Today; however, it appears society and people don't believe the human has the ability to overcome hardships, failures, or other difficulties. This is evident in the sad trend of suicide. People are convinced that there is no hope and succumbed to suicide. And of course, society does not help. Today society is quick to condemn, cast the stone, and shun anyone whom by their estimation have failed, or made a mistake. A majority of society has failed to extend compassion and forgiveness; which often help revive the human spirit.

The Author of life, the One Who is the final authority on all matters concerning the universe understands His creation better than anyone.

To God, the human can withstands multiple hardships, failures, and downfalls. We see this evidenced in Peter who betrayed Jesus, yet God gave Him a chance to not let the mistake defines him. And there are many other biblical figures like Peter.

Both Peter and Judas Iscariot failed. One overcame and the other believed a lie. Judas committed suicide. Knowing the character of Jesus, had Judas repented and aimed to change the course of his life, he would have been forgiven by Jesus. But he believed the lie that the human could not make a u-turn.

Anyone who is among the living has hope -even a live dog is better off than a dead lion! Ecclesiastes 9:4

For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again...Proverbs 24:16

For everything, there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven...Ecclesiastes 3

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

No pit is so deep that He is not deeper still; with Jesus even in our darkest moments, the best remains and the very best is yet to be. Corrie ten Boom

One success is not the journey of the Christian's walk. One failure is not the journey of the Christian's walk. Bernard Lewis.

Anxious for Nothing

Anxious for Nothing

belief precedes behavior.

So let diseases rage. Let the powers that be flex their muscles. Let the economy collapse. Let storm winds blow.

But because of what I believe -

because I have erected, as Max Lucado puts it, “cast iron stabilizers” in the center of my soul,

I can hold fast to my faith in God, in spite of my circumstances.

Want to change how your heart is reacting?

How my heart is reacting?

To perplexity. To evil. To sinister motives that could affect me. To calamity. To uncertainty. To isolation. To loneliness. To anger. To fear.

Change what you believe.

Relinquish control (that isn’t really control anyway) to a God Who IS in control.

And who has promised a wonderful forever.

Conflicting? God's Word Will Accomplish What He Sent It To Accomplish

Conflicting? God's Word Will Accomplish What He Sent It To Accomplish

God told Abraham in Genesis 21: 12 that it is through Isaac that He would bless Abraham, yet later tells Abraham in Genesis 22:2 to take Isaac (the promise) and sacrifice him.

Specifically, God said, "Take your son, your only son, whom you love--Isaac--and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you."

Talk about confusing and conflicting…

Sometimes it may seem that God's communication/conversation with us is conflicting. Like Abraham, God may have told you something and allows something else in your life that is contradictory to what He had first promised you.

I am encouraged by Abraham's story which shows that if God's kids do as Proverbs 3:5-6 says even when it does not make sense (to continue to believe); God will direct their paths. .

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

In Genesis 22: 9-14 as Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac, God prevented him.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9

When it does not make sense, when it is confusing; God is God. As it is written in Isaiah 55:11 His word will accomplish what He sent it to accomplish.
